We watched a video in class one evening, "The Power of Vision", that explained the importance of vision. Without a vision there is no sense of purpose, no driving force behind you and no will to focus on the future. There is a quote that stood out;
Vision without action is just a dream
Action without vision merely wastes time
Vision coupled with action can make things happen.
Since I was much younger, it has always been a dream of mine to be a pilot but for some reason I never made much of an effort as I should have to pursue this dream. We probably can safely say there was not a strong enough vision to back up the dream. That dream got pushed back even further when I took a finance class a couple years ago and was somehow drawn to that field of study. I am currently working on a career in finance but I still have a vision that someday I will be able to go back and take flight training so I can have the best of both worlds.
I find the finance field to be somewhat intriguing and envision myself completing my degree at Baruch College in finance and investment and even going on to obtain a masters degree in order the fully equip myself for the finance world out there. Many might say that due to the economic crisis we are faced with, maybe that field might not be appropriate at this time, but I'm very optimistic about the future of the country.
I want to be a strong provider for my family therefore I see myself completing school and achieving my degrees and making my progress in the work force to be able to be a strong provider for my family. The possibility of forming my own company is not too far-fetched and is something I intend to work on in order to secure myself and my family financially. I know that providing form my family financially is the only thing they will need, I know that I need to provide for them emotionally, etc, but I want to ensure that they never go hungry or that we are never homeless so that is a major concern for me.
These are just three of the things that I envision for myself in the future all of which will only be done God willing since we have no idea what our future holds, but we can still have visions, we can still have dreams, we just have to make that effort and work towards them and be optimistic and hope that one day we will fulfill our dreams.

your future seems pretty stable but i think that after you get your degree that you get your pilot license. most people have dreams and hopes but always put them on the back burner because they want to have a regular job like everyone else. go for what makes you happy and if thats flying then spread your wings and go!
I think most people have that very first dream where you feel that it can't be reached. Im sure once you get established financially, you will have the time and money to perhaps pursue flight school. I hear a lot as well about the falling economy not being good for finance majors but I too believe things will get better in the years to come.
As far as I know some people tend to go away from their dreams when they were younger. It would be something, if you accomplish both. I believe everything and anything is possible as long as you got your mind set on what you want to do. Good luck.
I believe your vision of being a pilot is very interesting. I urge you to really try to adopt this plan for your future vision because being a pilot seems very important to you. If you never try to do something that you may love more than anything, you will be missing something in your life that may be most fulfilling. Don't let the opportunity get away and try it. Good luck!
I absolutely agree that it's very important to remain optimistic even during difficult times and still have dreams and build vision upon those dreams. Our dreams and wants are the starting point for any progress, so it's crucial to remain true to things we want to accomplish. What would be the most important goal for you to accomplish at this time? I think the best way to go is to fully finish with school so that you're ready for the world out there. Of course, you can get your BBA and start working, but since you're thinking about getting a masters degree, I would support that for a few reasons: it will give you advantage in getting a job with a better pay, you won't have to come back to school as it may be difficult when you're getting regular paychecks and may have a family, and also it's a good thing to do considering today's state of economy. Go for it!!!
VERY interesting vision. I am sure verything will work out great just remember to spend time with your future family because alot of people spend most of the time working to provide for their family and dont get to enjoy them. Don't be one of those people. I am sure you wont because you also mentioned about the emotional aspect. GOODLUCK!!!
Hey I saw that you wrote about family too. Good to know that I'm not the only one thinking about it, and thanks for the encouragement. The only thing about establishing myself first, like you said, is that by the time that happens you are no longer in your younger years, and so many people get career oriented in America that they figure they’ll put family stuff on the side until they make a name for themselves, but when they actually do it’s very late in their lives. I do agree though that it is important to be able to support yourself first in those types of situations and then your family, and it’s great that your goals are on supporting your family in the future.
